I am often asked, “Why do you paint?” I think that the process affords me a deeper understanding of nature (environment) and perhaps, my relationship to it. My interpretation and interaction with the medium, in this case watercolor, results in a painting that is simultaneously about my views, my world and the world that I am viewing. It is the challenge inherent to the process and its evolving nature that causes me anguish, joy and at times, a deep satisfaction. All, motivate me to paint.
