Meredith Kane Shimp
Since I was young I’ve been drawn to the arts. Doodling, painting, playing with clay… reading poetry and writing stories… attending as many music and theater events as possible… these are the pastimes I love.
“Junk Rethunk” is the unofficial name I’ve given my work, which began first in 2003 when I had luck selling refurbished wooden trays with found objects, acrylic paint and resin. Since that time my pieces have expanded to recycled wine & beer bottle vases, bottle cap pendants and various items made from wine corks, light bulbs and random salvaged pieces. My mediums are mostly acrylics, decoupage, resin, paper and ‘junk’. As I age I find that my interests ebb and flow. Lately I’m experimenting more with mixed media on canvas; eager to see if I like the results or not. My pieces have sold and been displayed locally in stores and at Grafton’s Pumpkin Festival.
I’m so grateful to have unwavering love and support from my husband, son and two daughters. Their tolerance of art supplies constantly scattered throughout the house is appreciated; their critiques, invaluable. I love the life we’ve made for ourselves in Cedarburg, and I look forward to whatever adventures the future brings.
