Marcia L Getto
I love to wander through dew-laden prairies and windswept gardens looking for secret messages and clues, and finding textures, colors, designs, forms and patterns in nature’s most intimate places. What looks like a pretty flower may hide an uncut gem, a secret corridor or a simple metaphor.
Often we bypass important treasures that are soon forgotten – the old barn that has tumbled under the weight of snow, the rusted car sinking further into the terrain, an abandoned building waiting its demise from the bulldozer, or a loose window pane sliding into obscurity. Through color, line, pattern, shape and texture I want to share the beauty of these things that still have a story or lesson with the hope that the audience will accept this gift and never forget the wisdom of the message.
I am inspired by the work of Eliot Porter, Edward Weston, Sam Abell, Eddie Soloway, Doug Beasley and other artists who express their own emotional response to the mysteries of nature. My art and photography education includes course work at Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, Maine Media Workshops, Santa Fe Photographic Workshops and Rocky Mountain School of Photography.
In addition to frequent appearances in juried exhibitions, my award-winning work is currently exhibited at WE Energies, Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital, Northwestern Mutual Life, American Transmission Corp., Lake Country Gallery in Pewaukee, WI, and Main Street Gallery in Cedarburg, WI, Exclusively Yours Magazine covers and on my website at www.marciagetto.com.
